THE PROCESS

How the College Application Review Works

Students receive a link to a shared Google document with tabs for the Activities List, Personal Essay, and Supplement Essays.

My comments on any essays include what is working, what needs work, and what specific changes should be considering.

Students add their material to the document and email to inform me that it is ready to be reviewed. I remove student access while I work in the document.

To ensure that my comments are precise and helpful, I use the comment mode in Google documents. To be clear, almost all feedback will be in the form of comments in the document.

I personally review every part of the application. No work is done by staff or assistants — I don’t have either. Nor do I use AI to evaluate or comment on essays.

Within three calendar days — not business days — I notify the student that the review is ready. At that point I reshare the document so that students have access.
