What if I’m not a strong writer?

Not a problem. College essays don’t require elaborate phrasing or poetic language. What matters most is clear communication. Much of the work happens before drafting begins, by deciding what an essay needs to communicate and how specific experiences and personal insights support that message.
Drawing on my experience as a writer and editor, I help students see where their language is unclear or vague, and show them how to revise so their writing is easy for admissions officers to understand.
When should I start working on my college essays?

I recommend starting work on college essays after students have finished junior year. The foundation of a competitive application is high grades and strong performance on standardized tests and AP exams, so it makes sense to keep the focus there during the winter and spring. Starting early doesn’t guarantee better essays; it can create stress. With roughly five months between the end of school and early admissions deadlines, there’s plenty of time to write insightful college essays.
Do you ghostwrite students’ essays?

Never! Students do the writing. My role is to help with judgment, structure, and revision. I ask focused questions, challenge weak framing, and help students improve clarity. The final essays are always the student’s own work, in the student’s own voice.
Do you use AI in the essay process?

I don’t use AI to generate essays. My work focuses on areas where human judgment matters most: thinking, structure, and decision-making.
How much does a college essay coach cost?

The cost of college essay coaching varies widely depending on the scope of the work and the experience of the mentor. Some students want focused guidance on a small number of essays. Others want sustained, collaborative support across the full college application process. Because families’ needs differ, I don’t list prices publicly. Instead, I share package details and fees by email so families can understand what’s included and decide whether the fees makes sense.
How do college essay webinars differ from one-on-one work?

One-on-one work adds judgment and collaboration, as the student and I work step by step to create and craft essays that strengthen a college application.
